Utilizing Decans in Whole House Natal Chart Readings
Astrologer Dr. Elizabeth Huston, Ph.D. returned to the San Diego Astrological Society in September 2025 for another engaging and educational lecture focused on using Decans in Whole House natal chart readings.
In this presentation, Dr. Huston explored how decans—each zodiac sign divided into three 10-degree segments, each with its own planetary rulership—can be integrated into natal chart interpretation to add depth, precision, and richer storytelling. By layering decan rulership with planets, signs, houses, and angles, astrologers can offer more nuanced and comprehensive chart analyses for their clients.
The lecture featured a hands-on review of 24 natal charts, allowing participants to see this technique in action. Dr. Huston also demonstrated how decans can be applied to New and Full Moon astrology, revealing additional interpretive layers and insight into lunar cycles and timing.
