From the President

By Joe Simpson

As I looked at the upcoming eclipse charts, the lunar eclipse full moon of Aug. 16th jumped out at me and the more I studied it the more intrigued I became. Certainly a lunar eclipse is not an ordinary full moon. But it is the aspects that other planets make to each other that assures an interesting lunation. At the full moon eclipse (24* Aquarius-Leo) , the Moon will conjoin Neptune, illuminating an atmosphere of spiritual awakening and expression, or shining a beacon for the vessels of escapism. This energy receives some grounding as Venus in discriminating Virgo trines Jupiter in dutiful Capricorn. With both these planets in fall, we may be looking for a deal on work shoes and not finding exactly what we want, but buying something practical anyway. This could be a favorable aspect for spotting a good deal. Also at this eclipse, Mars perfects his square with Pluto…yeah…and this square is the only aspect Mars is making at this time, stoking the fire of desire and the lust to assert ones will upon the obsession of choice. Sports could be a more attractive expression, and this aspect provides tremendous energy for your session. Sexual Magic is a potential as well.

With this convergence of three powerful and divergent aspects, the potential for excess is enormous! Any one of these alone is enough for extreme expression, and this combination may well prove too much for some to handle. Most influenced will be 24 fixed, and 28 mutable, and if you have planets or points at both degrees, well, this could be a meaningful event on the ‘over the top’ scale.

Regardless of where the eclipse or the Mars –Pluto square falls in your chart, and even with our best conscious intentions and being mindful of our interactions with others, we may awake the day after feeling that somehow, somewhere, we may have gone too far…but often we achieve a new awareness and gain new knowledge by moving into new territory. At this lunation we may be able to take a quantum leap.
