Jim has been traveling at selected times to carefully chosen locations since the early 1970's, with the purpose of changing the astrological influences in his life during the period following each trip. He resolved most of the unknowns in the system as early as 1973, and has been testing and polishing it ever since. His friends, students, and clients have also used the system for many years.
We know that we cannot change our natal charts, transits, or progressions, but we CAN change our return charts, since they will have different planets angular depending on where in the world we spend the period just before each return. The principle here is the same as relocating a natal chart, but the method of interpretation is very different.
Jim extrapolated the idea from Donald Bradley's wonderful little book, "Solar and Lunar Returns", and began testing in 1970 in order to discover how far in advance one has to be in the chosen location to get the desired results.
There are several keys to doing this right:
1. Return the Sun (or Moon) to its natal position with respect to the fixed stars, i.e., do a precession-corrected return in the tropical zodiac or else a sidereal return (same moment in time).
2. Use Campanus houses.
3. Use the foreground method of interpretation, which Jim will explain.
4. Do quarterly fractional returns for the Sun, i.e., every three months - and for the Moon, i.e., about every 7 days.
5. You have to be in the chosen location for a full week (7 x 24 hours) before the moment of the return for a Solar or fractional solar. (For the Lunar and fractional lunar returns, the period is 36 hours.)
If you enjoy travel, this technique can sooner or later provide you with an astrological reason to visit just about any place you might want to go. If you want to improve the astrological influences operating in your life, this is the best tool you can have.
